The All-on-4® Treatment Concept Procedure Arvada, CO
Our implant retained denture system, known as The All-on-4® Treatment Concept, is a way to permanently attach your denture device using four titanium dental implants directly to your jawbone. Our patients at Mountain Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center love this system because it means no more over the counter adhesives, no more loose teeth rocking around inside your mouth, no constant caution of the foods you eat, and no removal of your teeth while you sleep. Dr. Ryan can help your denture stay permanently in place, helping it feel as close to your natural teeth as you can get.
How The Procedure Is Done
To attach your denture using the All-on-4® Treatment Concept, Dr. Ryan places four titanium implant posts into your jawbone. These posts will serve as strong, secure, points to hold your denture in place. The implant itself resembles what we think of as a screw, available in a wide range of widths and lengths. The implants used for the All-on-4® Treatment Concept are longer than other implants so the implant reaches thicker bone mass, and is placed at an angle to solidify the strength of the anchor. This added length and placement means that a bone graft is not needed, and the procedure allows for immediate load of your denture device.
Is it safe to have metal in my mouth?
In recent years, conversation has increased about the safety of metal in your mouth. Dental implants are made from titanium, which is known to be biocompatible and is used for surgical repairs all over the human skeleton. Titanium has the unique ability to not be rejected by our body and in fact, our living tissue is willing to grow around it, fusing it to the bone for a strong bond. There is no mercury involved in this procedure or being placed in your mouth due to this procedure.
The All-on-4® Treatment Concept Procedure
Placing your denture with the All-on-4® Treatment Concept begins with complete x-rays, most often using 3D x-rays to plan the ideal placement of your implants. Once a plan has been established, Dr. Ryan will prepare the area using a specialized drill. Four spots in your bone will be cleared, making room for the implants. Dr. Ryan will then place your denture appliance and permanently place the implants. Immediate loaded dentures do require a certain amount of healing time. During this time, approximately three months, the patient will need to be easy on their new teeth, eating soft foods. Healing involves more than just the surface tissue healing, it involves the bone fusing to the implant. Certain medical problems, such as diabetes, medications, and habitual smoking of tobacco can slow this healing time or even stop healing from occurring. Though this procedure has a greater than 95% success rate, if it is unsuccessful, we will know almost immediately.
Is the placement of the All-on-4® Treatment Concept painful?
Explanation of the surgical process for the All-on-4® Treatment Concept sounds intimidating, but the healing is relatively simple. During the surgical procedure itself, you will feel no pain because of the anesthetic and optional sedation that we provide based on your needs. Most patients find that they have no memory of the entire procedure. Your comfort is important to us, we don’t want our patients to be in pain. Following placement of your implant retained denture, Dr. Ryan will prescribe the appropriate level of pain relieving medication, this will help you for the first few days post-surgery. Most patients find that they are able to resume normal activity within a few days.
The All-on-4® Treatment Concept provides patients with teeth that look and function just like your real teeth. Once fused, you are able to eat, speak and engage without ever thinking of your dentures again. You even care for them as you would your natural teeth, as the hygiene routine involves brushing and flossing as you always have.
