Foods to Include In Your Recovery Following Oral Surgery

What you eat following oral surgery can make a big difference in how well you heal from that surgery. It is important to pick out the right foods to help you heal, plus foods that won't slow down your recovery in any way.

You need foods that fortify your mouth during the healing process, with as many nutrients as possible. Here are some foods you want to make sure you include in your oral surgery recovery diet.

Eat As Many of These Foods as Possible Following Oral Surgery

Since your mouth may be too sore to eat regular meals following your oral surgery, you need to make sure that you eat as many nutrients in each bite as possible. Don't eat junk, but eat foods that have a lot of protein and calories so that your body doesn't starve while you are recovering.

Dairy foods are a great place to start with your oral surgery recovery diet. This can include milk, cheese, and yogurt. If you need something really cold to help with swelling, try frozen yogurt instead.

Soft meats are another great option. You don't want hard foods that take a lot of time to chew up, such as steak. Instead, you want to go with things like soft chicken would be a much better option.

Soft fruits and vegetables are also a great option. They provide the nutrition you need, with the softened texture you want. That way, you can eat without worrying that it will hurt your mouth.

The longer you go without eating, the slower the healing is going to be. You need the nutrition from the foods to keep up with your healing. Don't skip meals, just pick meals that you can eat without worry. To find out other great foods to include as part of your recovery diet, call our office today.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (303) 422-2990 today.

"Had an overall great experience with Dr. Ryan. The staff was very courteous and professional. Most important, the work they did, (two implants, to hold lower dentures) was very secure and I'm free of the hassle and pain. I was concerned at first but he answered all my questions and the whole procedure went well. I definitely would recomend them if you need that type of work done. 2 thumbs up!"

"The office is well run. Everyone I had contact with was friendly and knowledgeable. Procedures were explained and all questions answered. Oral surgery can be an intimidating proposition, but Dr. Ryan and his staff are sensitive to that by providing excellent pain management and results."
