What are Dental Implants?
Rapidly increasing in popularity, dental implants have become the dental restoration of choice when the natural tooth is no longer an option. Dr. Ryan, along with our entire team at Mountain Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, can replace missing teeth in a permanent, durable way.
Dental implants are a titanium rod that we surgically place in your jawbone to serve as a new, permanent root system for a dental appliance to be attached to. The implant itself is not the false tooth, but the base that we can attach a false tooth to.
How Dental Implants Work
Titanium has the unique property that allows it to be biocompatible with the human body. This means that your body will not reject it as a foreign object, in fact your body will bond with it. Studies have shown that the body’s living tissue will grow around the titanium rod through a process known as osseointegration. As the tissue grows around it, it fuses the bone and tissue to the metal device, making it part of your structure. Because of this process, surgeons use titanium to make repairs all over the human skeleton, most notably in hip, shoulder and knee surgeries.
Dental implants come in a variety of widths and lengths, for various bone masses and restorations. In most situations, we will need to perform some preparatory work, including a bone graft before the implant is placed.
When Bone Grafting Is Necessary
When a patient loses a tooth there is an immediate response from the bone. Our bone requires constant stimulation from pressure and motion to stay healthy and strong. When the stimulation stops, the bone quickly responds with atrophy. The resorption of bone can be reversed with a simple bone graft. Though it sounds intimidating, bone grafts are quite simple. Using bone material, either from the patient, donated, or synthetic, we place tiny granules of bone material and cover it to allow for better healing and growth. After some time, we should then have the appropriate bone levels needed to continue the placement of your dental implant.
The Benefits of dental implants?
At Mountain Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, our patients seek dental implants because:
Dental implants can be used in congruence with multiple dental appliances. Dr. Ryan can place a single or multiple dental implants to support the dental restoration that is needed. Following a thorough examination, we can create a treatment plan that is right for you. This may include a dental crown, a dental bridge, or even an implant retained denture device. REFERRING DOCTORS LOVE US
"Had an overall great experience with Dr. Ryan. The staff was very courteous and professional. Most important, the work they did, (two implants, to hold lower dentures) was very secure and I'm free of the hassle and pain. I was concerned at first but he answered all my questions and the whole procedure went well. I definitely would recomend them if you need that type of work done. 2 thumbs up!"

"The office is well run. Everyone I had contact with was friendly and knowledgeable. Procedures were explained and all questions answered. Oral surgery can be an intimidating proposition, but Dr. Ryan and his staff are sensitive to that by providing excellent pain management and results."
