Fixed, Full, and Partial Denture Comparison

In order to help keep your oral health in the best shape possible, it is important to come in and see us often. This helps us keep tabs on things like your teeth, your gums, and even your jawbone. We can pin point any issues right away, in other words, and work hard to limit any damage as much as possible. And if you should find yourself in need of dentures, we can help you make the best decision possible – the decision that will enable you to live a normal life and continue to speak and eat as you are accustomed to doing. At Mountain Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center, we take our patients’ oral health seriously.

Dentures

Dentures are probably one of the more popular tooth replacement option. When you have one or more teeth replaced, you will need to make a decision about what kind of replacement option you would like to implement. It is important to note that replacing your teeth is a must if you want to maintain your oral health in any significant way. Failing to do so can lead to your remaining teeth slowly drifting out of place and becoming more likely to be broken as a result. Even when all of your teeth are removed, you should still invest in a replacement option that will help keep a natural looking smile in place.

Fixed, Full, and Partials

Traditional dentures are removable. They tend to replace all of your teeth with one mouthpiece, and sit over your gums using suction and gravity. As you might imagine, they are not the sturdiest of teeth replacements and might do more to impede your speech or eating ability than they do to promote it. With that said, if you are just looking for something to keep your facial structure in good shape and looking natural, then dentures might be a good fit for you. Note that you can get partial dentures or full dentures. Full dentures replace all of your teeth, while partial dentures replace only some of them. The option for you largely depends upon how many teeth you need to have replaced.

Fixed dentures are a relatively new development in the dental field. As mentioned above, traditional dentures are removable. This makes them relatively poor at doing things that require a lot of strength, like chewing food. Fixed dentures, on the other hand, are a different subject altogether. Fixed dentures are dentures that are mounted on dental implants. Usually you have four dental implants and the dentures are fixed to them. This holds the dentures in place and helps them function more like natural teeth. With fixed dentures, you can eat and speak without worrying that your dentures will fall out of place or become displaced.

WHY OUR PATIENTS &
REFERRING DOCTORS LOVE US

"Had an overall great experience with Dr. Ryan. The staff was very courteous and professional. Most important, the work they did, (two implants, to hold lower dentures) was very secure and I'm free of the hassle and pain. I was concerned at first but he answered all my questions and the whole procedure went well. I definitely would recomend them if you need that type of work done. 2 thumbs up!"

"Best doc we have ever been to. My son felt safe and relaxed with him and his staff."
~ George G.

"The office is well run. Everyone I had contact with was friendly and knowledgeable. Procedures were explained and all questions answered. Oral surgery can be an intimidating proposition, but Dr. Ryan and his staff are sensitive to that by providing excellent pain management and results."
~ Lisa S.
